Link Up Education Concerts

The Rhode Island Philharmonic has presented annual education concerts to area students since 1946. Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Philharmonic has partnered with Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute to provide a music literacy curriculum and interactive concerts based on Carnegie Hall’s highly successful Link Up series. Designed for students in grades 3-5, Link Up works in a three-year cycle with different themes each year: The Orchestra Rocks (Rhythm), The Orchestra Sings (Melody) and The Orchestra Moves (movement).

Our 2019-2020 program, The Orchestra Rocks, happens May 19th-22nd with two concerts each day, one at 9:45 and one at 11:30.

Link Up is a music education program conceived to connect classroom with concert hall. It is designed for students in grades 3-5, but may also be appropriate for older or younger audiences, depending on musical interest. No prior music experience required. Every participating school receives a class set of student workbooks, a quality soprano recorder for every student, and all teachers receive content-specific professional development. Teachers implement the curriculum throughout the year and the program culminates in a celebratory interactive concert at The VETS each May.
